Am I the Only One?

Am I the only person who...

...gets a little thrill out of color matching (with or without trying) such as the hanger to the garment on laundry day, or the chip clip to the snack bag's prominent graphics on any day?

...kind of hesitates to throw the first piece of trash into the wastebasket after replacing the full garbage bag with a new one, not wanting to mess up the clean look?

...thinks that the McDonald's workers may actually be trained to slap the slice of cheese at an angle one-third off the patty when assembling a fillet of fish sandwich for the customer?

...has separate and distinct pronunciations for the words hock and hawk?

...sometimes silently shares an unsolicited tip with someone on social media: proofreading is a marvelous writer's tool (elininates calling your elderly friend a dear old soup, for instance)?

...likes to end a full-course meal with eating a little bit something salty yet?

...tries hard to avoid touching a picture of a spider or snake? (especially its head) (especially if its fangs are bared)

...gets a runny nose from eating hot food (both from spicy hot and temperature hot)?

...collects malpropisms and other fun/funny word stuff? (Who will steerhead it? They came to a stallmate)

...overuses parentheses?

...thinks you should comment on this blog post and tell me one of your quirks, (or unique habits, if that description suits you better) since I told you some of mine?

  1. When I hang up jeans, or towels on a clothesline, I must hang them in size categories.
On the subject of garbage cans, I will cram and stuff it as full as possible to avoid needing to empty it. When I finally do just go ahead and empty it, it's such a good feeling, I wonder why I didn't do it sooner! 😅

  2. I loved this! I recognized most of them! ☺ But misspelled signs tend to bother me more than humor. . . aspargas, anyone? Please?!!! I always hang up the dresses facing the same way, so the zipper is always on the same side!

    1. Hey, I do the same with hanging up dresses! And I can see why aspargas bothers you - it makes one think of spare us the gas or something!

  3. Sometimes we call this our OCD as we obsess over little details that might not matter to others. Some of mine are also matching the clothes to the colored hangers and having them all turned the same way, not touching snakes in books, hot food making my nose water, and using parentheses a lot. I enjoy English grammar and have a part-time job helping an editor, so have my eyes peeled for critiquing mistakes in both grammar and punctuation. I like to hang and fold the towels with the seams on the inside, and alternate them on the clothesline with heavy & light-weight to help them dry better. In the monotony of repetitious jobs in keeping house, it adds interest to your life to develop patterns to follow. Does it help to keep your brain stimulated, so you don't develop dementia? Who know?

    1. I fold the towels seam-side in, too! But alternating the clothes on the line for better drying is a new idea for me. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Oh, I enjoyed this! Life is so interesting! I have a habit of impulse buying plants because they're frilly or purple or extra something, whether I have space for them or not. Ask your daughter- she just spent the afternoon greenhouse hopping with me while the Twinnies napped.

    1. Also "loose weight" is just the worst!

    2. Thanks for replying! I like your extra plants habit, and I'm jealous of you (and happy for you at the same time) that you get to practice your habit with my daughter!

    3. Loose weight, eloosive for tightening, maybe?
